Laura was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. I remember seeing her around campus last year, but we never actually met until a few weeks ago when I showed up on her doorstep with a few bags of produce and staples to supplement the meals that are being prepared each week by friends and members of her community. And now I am basking in the glow of the kindness and generosity that is coming her way... Last week I posted details for a benefit auction for Laura on my Facebook page. We attended, we shopped, we raised money so that she can focus on getting healthy. It was fun. Yesterday my friend launched a fundraiser with her home based business, Stella & Dot and she plans to donate 100% of her proceeds from this effort to Laura. This morning, I posted the details on my FB page and within minutes, my childhood BFF responded that she'd already shopped and placed her order...What a wonderful feeling to know that I get to be the glue that brings these Mamas together...YAY! Thanks Ladies! So here are the details on the fundraiser:
Buy a Pair (of Earrings!) to Save a Pair (of Boobies!) Visit Sarah's website and enter "Susan Komen" as your Hostess at checkout. Simple! We've set a goal of 50 pairs of earrings by the 31st of October, and we've already sold 10! And if you're not into earrings, feel free to take a peek at their fabulous necklaces and rings too...I've got my eye on this and this and if I weren't currently paying two mortgages, I'd jump on this. I might even try to get organized and use this as a way to get a little jump on holiday shopping...Anyone is welcome to participate, so please share the details...Thanks everyone!
