Meet My Boys...Part 1

My mother affectionately refers to my boys as "Hank & Andy"...Not their real names exactly but it pegs their personalities and the connection that has developed between them over the years.

The bigger boy is nearly 6, and heading off to Kindergarten next week. I can hardly believe it...where have the years gone? I'll admit that I have spent much of the last several years wishing our exhausting days away...yearning for more sleep, and a bit of sanity...and I'm counting down the seconds until the first day of Kinder. But I'm sure that come Wednesday morning at 9:01AM MST, I'll be shedding a tear or two. He's a talker, this one. I remember when he was first learning to talk, we absolutely savored every word that came out of his sweet little mouth. He got on a roll, and has not stopped talking since. He's articulate, curious, enthusiastic, incredibly outgoing, oh-so creative, and he has the most beautiful eyes and the pinkest, most perfect lips I've ever seen. He's the reason Moms all over the world use the term "Because I said so!"

And then there's Hank... My crazy, unrefined, gun-loving, blonde-haired wonder boy. I think maybe he was a Pirate or a Knight in a previous life. Just turned 3, and his current interests include guns, swords, knives and skateboarding. In that order. We're hoping the weapons obsession tapers off now that he's off to pre-school a few mornings a week! He's animated, quick-witted, insanely athletic, twirls his hair into tight little knots with his left hand when he's tired, and he's so affectionate...a bit of a mama's boy, and I love it. His daily antics are the inspiration for so many of my Facebook status updates, and long lost friends can't wait to meet him because they hear about the hilarious things he says and does to keep us on our toes. He dresses himself. He pairs boots with shorts, and loves Hawaiian "party shirts". The one word that sums him up: Hysterical.

So that's a bit about my offspring...Next up, meet their Papa, the love of my life and my best friend.

PS: Aren't these photos amazing? I'm so lucky to have a dear friend who is a very talented photographer...Her work can be found here.
